Services

Three disciplines, one investigator.

Most matters that reach us involve a suspicion — of fraud, theft, a false statement, or a risk that hasn't been quantified. Each service below exists to turn that suspicion into evidence, or to lay it to rest.

01 — INVESTIGATION

Forensic investigation

Corporate and SMME investigations into fraud, theft, corruption and labour-related misconduct, run to a standard that holds up in disciplinary, civil and criminal proceedings.

  • Certified forensic interviewing and interrogation
  • Fraud examination and loss investigation
  • Evidence handling with a documented chain of custody
  • Covert Section 252A operations
  • Liaison with the SAPS and the judiciary
  • Investigative support to HR, legal and disciplinary proceedings
02 — VERACITY

Poly-phase lie detection

A layered approach to establishing whether an account is truthful — combining structured interview technique with analysis of what was said, how it was written, and how the person behaved while saying it.

  • Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN) of written and spoken statements
  • Forensic Assessment Interview Technique (FAINT)
  • Body language and micro-expression analysis
  • Statement and discourse analysis
  • Applied to contested incidents, internal disputes and pre-hearing screening
03 — RISK

Security & OHS Act risk assessment

Enterprise security and Occupational Health and Safety Act risk assessments for sites, warehouses, campuses and offices — with corrective actions and protective planning your management team can act on.

  • Enterprise security risk assessment and engineering
  • OHS Act risk assessment with corrective-action recommendations
  • SHEQ management systems and auditing
  • Loss control auditing and protective planning evaluations
  • Standard operating procedures, SLAs and job descriptions
Also available Technical security advisory — CCTV and electronic access control design, alarm monitoring and armed response, control-room set-up — and security operations advisory covering guarding deployment, K9 units, access and traffic management and VIP protection.

How an engagement works

From a confidential brief to findings you can act on.

Every matter follows the same disciplined sequence, so that what is found can be relied on later — in a hearing, before the CCMA, in civil proceedings, or in a criminal referral.

  1. Confidential brief

A private conversation about what you suspect, what you already know, and what outcome you need. No obligation.

  2. Mandate and scope

A written mandate setting out the scope, the approach, confidentiality and the reporting you'll receive.

  3. Investigation

Interviews, statement analysis, evidence gathering and, where warranted, covert operations — all under a documented chain of custody.

  4. Findings report

A plain-language report of what was established, how, and on what evidence, with recommended next steps.

  5. Proceedings support

Support to your HR, legal or disciplinary process, including testimony, and referral to the SAPS where a criminal matter is disclosed.

Investigations are conducted within the Private Security Industry Regulation Act and the Criminal Procedure Act. Evidence is handled under a documented chain of custody so that it can be relied on in internal proceedings and, where a matter is referred, by the SAPS and the courts.

Questions we're asked

Before you pick up the phone.

What is poly-phase lie detection?

Rather than relying on a single instrument, poly-phase lie detection layers several recognised techniques on one another: Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN) of what a person has written or said, the Forensic Assessment Interview Technique (FAINT), and observation of body language and micro-expressions during a structured interview.

Each phase tests the account from a different angle. Where they agree, the finding is strong; where they don't, that tells us where to look next.

Can the findings be used in a disciplinary hearing or at the CCMA?

Our reports are written for exactly that purpose. Interviews, statements and physical evidence are gathered and documented under a chain of custody, and Eddie has chaired, prosecuted and given evidence in disciplinary and labour proceedings for many years. How a particular finding is weighed is ultimately for the presiding officer or commissioner — we'll tell you candidly what the evidence will and won't support.

Is my enquiry confidential?

Yes. The initial brief is private and without obligation, and every mandate sets out confidentiality in writing. Where a matter needs to be referred to the SAPS, that is done with you and on your instruction.

Where do you operate?

Truth PI is based in Birch Acres, Kempton Park, and works throughout Gauteng and across Southern Africa. Interviews and site assessments are conducted on your premises or at a neutral venue, as the matter requires.

What should I have ready for the first conversation?

Whatever you have: a timeline of what happened, the names or roles involved, any documents, CCTV or statements already collected, and what you need the outcome to achieve. If you have nothing but a suspicion, that's fine too — that is often where a matter starts.
